On 20 October 2026, The Strokes arrive at Barcelona’s Palau Sant Jordi with Reality Awaits. Born in New York, Julian Casablancas, Nick Valensi, Albert Hammond Jr., Nikolai Fraiture and Fabrizio Moretti deliver a taut, nervous rock built on interlocking guitars and a spare rhythmic backbone. From the outset with Is This It and Room on Fire to the more new‑wave turns of Angles and Comedown Machine, and the band’s return on The New Abnormal, they string together two decades of straightforward songs and a distinctly New York identity that remains strongly marked.
Alex Cameron opens with a mix of synth‑pop and soft rock, mid‑tempo grooves and a deep voice front and center. After his time in Seekae, his solo project moves between first‑person narratives and characters on the edge, from Jumping the Shark to Forced Witness and Miami Memory, with Roy Molloy’s saxophone as a frequent accomplice. Oxy Music pushes that line toward smoother, more synthetic textures.
Completing the bill is Fat White Family, who hail from Peckham and fuse post‑punk, garage and psychedelia with a rough edge. Champagne Holocaust marked their lo‑fi phase, Songs for Our Mothers toughened the sound, and Serfs Up! opened the door to broader arrangements; Forgiveness Is Yours (2024) extends that trajectory with a different approach. On stage they maintain a taut tension between gritty keyboards, skewed grooves and a pop impulse that surfaces when you least expect it.
