No need to look far. When he calls his show Cactus, you know it’s going to sting — but that’s typical of Elie Semoun. For 30 years he has been an incisive and offbeat comedian on the French stage. His style has inspired other artists, since his talent for portraying characters defines his work. In this eighth show, stand-up will be a little more present, which is new for him.
In the gallery of new monsters there will be Jean Abdul, who will do his own opening act; a son showing a nursing home to his father; Xavier, a man with a motor disability, introducing his wife to his mother; a father confronted with his son's transition; a karate class taught by a racist — sexual harassment and religion will also be among the themes of Cactus, his view of society.
