La Maison Tellier

La Maison Tellier lands at La Carène in Brest on April 24, 2026 with La Timidité des Arbres, their eighth album. Founded in Rouen in 2005, the band moves between folk rock and French chanson, with a discreet, precise way of telling what connects us. The title, a nod to 16 Horsepower’s final album, sums up the record’s spirit: a journey through an open folk—from Calexico’s Tex‑Mex mariachis to the veiled ballads beloved by Shane MacGowan, and on to the searing dust evoked by Ali Farka Touré. Here there’s no showing off; rather songs that look the world squarely in the eye, arrangements on a human scale, and writing that favors restraint over effects.

On stage the quintet remains true to its balance: Helmut Tellier on vocals and guitar, Raoul Tellier on guitars, Léopold Tellier on brass, Elizabeth—known as Betty Tellier—on bass and double bass, and Jeff Tellier on drums. A tight‑knit formation, built to let the voices breathe, roll the guitars and let the brass create moods. La Maison Tellier will present new songs and revisit their repertoire, between muted strings, dry pulses and narratives that take their time.
