Maxence
Born in Nîmes in 1995, Maxence Lapérouse first developed his musical practice in the group Fysh, a metal band with which he released the EP Fysh in 2013 and then Imago in 2015. Initially identified online under the name Maxenss thanks to covers, humorous songs, and videos posted from 2013, he later evolved this public persona into a project more directly centered on writing pop and French chanson. This transition notably involved collaborating with the Nîmes trio VSO on the EP Southcoaster in 2017, at the crossroads of rap and melodic pop, and then adopting the given name Maxence for his solo releases. His first solo EP, @, appeared in 2019, followed that same year by the expanded reissue @+, with tracks that establish intimate French pop, outwardly light but threaded with themes of doubt, attachment and dislocation. Maxence then released the album Tout est trop beau in 2021, and the EP Comme un enfant in 2024, in a register where contemporary song, pop arrangements and often restrained interpretation mingle. Parallel to music, Maxence also pursues acting for television and cinema, extending an artistic path built between stage, image and personal writing.
