Desire

Born in Montreal in 2009, Desire evolves between synth-pop, italo disco and new wave in a format centered on Megan Louise's voice and Johnny Jewel's production, with Nat Walker in the group's initial lineup. The project sits within the Italians Do It Better label universe, with bilingual English-French songwriting and a sound built on melancholic melodies, slow to medium tempos and a nocturnal aesthetic inherited from 1980s electronic pop. Desire released its debut album II in 2009, which immediately established this identity, notably with 'Under Your Spell', a track widely featured in cinema and fashion in the early 2010s, particularly in the Drive soundtrack. Later settled in Palm Springs, the duo continued live and studio activity with a string of singles, covers and several collaborations, including with Guy Gerber, Omar-S, Double Mixte and Jimmy Whoo. After a long period of sporadic releases, Desire returned to the album format with Escape in 2022, followed by Games People Play in 2025. Since its beginnings, Desire has maintained a pared-down approach to electronic pop, consisting of dreamy vocal lines, retro textures and a constant tension between romance, synthetic coldness and a sense of the chorus.
