Cradle Of Filth

Formed in 1991 in Suffolk, England, Cradle of Filth has built itself around its vocalist Dani Filth, the only original member remaining, with a career marked by numerous lineup changes. The band established itself in the 1990s with black metal heavily tinged with gothic and symphonic elements, where fast guitars, keyboards, dark narration, and references to fantasy literature, black romance, and horror cinema intersect. After the early landmarks The Principle of Evil Made Flesh (1994), Dusk... and Her Embrace (1996) and Cruelty and the Beast (1998), Cradle of Filth evolved its writing toward a broader and more theatrical extreme metal on Midian (2000), then Damnation and a Day (2003), recorded with orchestra and choir. Nymphetamine (2004), Thornography (2006), Godspeed on the Devil’s Thunder (2008), Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa (2010), The Manticore & Other Horrors (2012), Hammer of the Witches (2015), Cryptoriana – The Seductiveness of Decay (2017), Existence Is Futile (2021) and The Screaming of the Valkyries (2025) extend this trajectory between aggressive black metal, gothic melodies, and symphonic arrangements. Accustomed to international tours and festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Download, Bloodstock or Ozzfest, Cradle of Filth preserves a singular visual and sonic identity in the landscape of British extreme metal.
