Faisal Kapadia
Born in Karachi in 1971, Faisal Kapadia established himself in Pakistani pop rock and alternative rock with a direct, melodic songwriting style often open to fusion and South Asian radio-friendly song formats. He launched his career in the late 1980s with Strings, formed in 1988 with Bilal Maqsood and other classmates, later becoming one of the band’s central voices and its main lyricist. Strings’ discography marks several phases, including Strings (1990), 2 (1992), Duur (2000), Dhaani (2003), Koi Aanay Wala Hai (2008) and 30 (2018), blending pop guitars, catchy choruses and modern rock inflections. From 2006 the project also branched into Indian cinema, while Faisal Kapadia concurrently directed music videos and participated in Coke Studio Pakistan, serving as producer and musical director for several seasons between 2014 and 2017. After Strings disbanded in 2021, he continued as a solo artist—notably via Coke Studio—before releasing the album Zindagi Jahaan Le Jaaye in 2024.
