Info

Belle and Sebastian land in Toronto with a set built around Tigermilk and songs from across their catalogue. Formed in mid-90s Glasgow around Stuart Murdoch’s writing, the group — with Stevie Jackson, Chris Geddes, Richard Colburn and Sarah Martin — forged an indie pop and chamber pop approach that blends spare melodies, strings or brass, and story-driven lyrics. Their debut Tigermilk (1996) set the tone, followed the same year by If You’re Feeling Sinister. The Boy with the Arab Strap (1998) and Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like a Peasant (2000) extended those everyday portraits. In the 2000s they leaned into a more produced pop with Dear Catastrophe Waitress and The Life Pursuit, later folding in electronic and dance textures on Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance.

On May 25, 2026 at Massey Hall, 178 Victoria Street, Toronto, the band revisits Tigermilk in full and links it with classic tracks, tracing a line from the early vignettes to later explorations. The focus stays on detail and intimacy, with Glasgow-rooted stories carried by clean arrangements and a quietly melodic pulse.
