The Bluetones come back on the road to mark 30 years of Expecting To Fly, the debut that first put their clean guitars and bittersweet pop writing on the map. On 23 October 2026 at Cambridge Junction in Cambridge, the band plays the album in full, then digs into a broader set drawn from a catalogue that’s grown way past the mid-90s britpop moment.
Released in 1996, Expecting To Fly hit the top of the UK chart and briefly knocked Oasis off the summit, with “Slight Return” becoming the track everyone still waits for. It’s also a rare chance to see the original four line-up still locked in: Mark Morriss on vocals, Adam Devlin on guitar, Scott Morriss on bass and Eds Chesters on drums. Expect tight, melodic songs, chiming indie pop edges, and that direct, slightly melancholic tone that’s always made their live sets feel effortless without ever turning into nostalgia cosplay.
