Info
Doves return to Glasgow on 17 September 2026 at Barrowland Ballroom, bringing the expansive indie rock they’ve shaped since their Wilmslow and Manchester origins. Formed by Jimi Goodwin with twin brothers Jez and Andy Williams, the trio pivoted from their Sub Sub electronic years to a more guitar-led approach at the end of the 1990s, blending indie rock, post-Britpop and traces of space rock. Lost Souls (2000) set the tone, followed by The Last Broadcast (2002), Some Cities (2005) and Kingdom of Rust (2009), records that fixed their hallmarks: atmospheric guitars, supple rhythms and the interplay of voices that anchors the songs. A hiatus began in 2010, before a return in 2018, a run of shows in 2019, The Universal Want in 2020, then Constellations for the Lonely in 2025.
On stage, Doves lean into layered textures and a steady, propulsive groove, with Jez and Andy’s guitars and keys orbiting melodic lines while the vocals shift from grainy to weightless. Since their comeback, some dates have gone ahead without Jimi Goodwin, with Jez and Andy sharing lead duties alongside an expanded live band. Recent sets have spanned early material through to the latest tracks, tracing the arc of a group that keeps refining its sound without losing the pulse that made its name.
