Info

On 18 October 2026, The Proclaimers play the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic in Liverpool. Formed in 1983 by twin brothers Craig and Charlie Reid, the Scottish duo shaped a sound that threads folk rock, roots and country-folk with a touch of punk edge. Tight two-part harmonies and plainspoken lyrics sit at the centre, carried by their distinctive Leith accent. Early releases set the tone with This Is the Story (1987) and Sunshine on Leith (1988), sending songs like Letter from America, I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) and Sunshine on Leith into the repertoire. The path since then has stayed steady: Hit the Highway (1994), Persevere (2001), Born Innocent (2003, with Edwyn Collins), then Life with You, Notes & Rhymes, Like Comedy, Angry Cyclist and Dentures Out, where personal tales rub shoulders with social and political snapshots. On stage they move between stripped-back acoustic interplay and a fuller band feel, with arrangements that keep melody and words upfront. Expect a set that ranges across four decades, balancing staples with newer cuts, direct and unadorned.
