Squeeze headline Bournemouth International Centre in Bournemouth on 4 December 2026, with very special guest Billy Bragg. Formed in London in 1974 around the writing partnership of Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, Squeeze have shaped a sharp, melodic pop sound built on tight hooks and everyday storytelling. Their set draws on early favourites like Take Me I’m Yours, Cool for Cats and Up the Junction, and later material from albums such as Cradle to the Grave and The Knowledge. On stage, the interplay between Difford’s pen and Tilbrook’s melodies keeps these songs lean, tuneful and unforced, with harmonies and guitars that carry their trademark clarity.
Billy Bragg opens with the direct voice-and-electric-guitar approach that first set him apart in the early 80s, mixing social snapshots with tender love songs. Over the years he’s broadened his palette, notably through the Mermaid Avenue project with Wilco setting Woody Guthrie’s lyrics to music, but he retains a plain-spoken style and a storyteller’s sense of pace. Together, Squeeze and Bragg bring two complementary strands of British songwriting to the same stage, from taut pop craftsmanship to modern folk grit.
