Info

China Crisis lands at Scarborough Spa, South Bay, Scarborough on 22 May 2026. Formed on the outskirts of Liverpool in the late 70s, the band revolves around Gary Daly (vocals, keyboards) and Eddie Lundon (guitar, vocals), often joined on stage by a rotating rhythm section. Anchored in British new wave and synth-pop, they weave supple basslines, melodic keys and bright guitars into songs with a reflective edge, somewhere between electronic pop, gentle post-punk and sophisti-pop.

They first broke through with African and White, then shaped their early identity on the albums Difficult Shapes & Passive Rhythms, Some People Think It’s Fun to Entertain (1982) and Working with Fire and Steel – Possible Pop Songs Volume Two (1983). The sound tightened on Flaunt the Imperfection (1985), co-produced with Walter Becker of Steely Dan, before exploring softer pop hues on What Price Paradise (1986) and Diary of a Hollow Horse (1989). After Warped by Success (1994), the group slowed releases, returning with Autumn in the Neighbourhood (2015). On stage, Daly and Lundon draw from across this catalogue, adapting the line-up while keeping the duo’s chemistry at the centre.
