Info
On 28 November 2026 at Café Berlín in Madrid, Michelle Gurevich brings her slow, cinematic pop. Born in Toronto to a Russian-Jewish family and originally known as Chinawoman, she left film in the mid-2000s to write low-tempo songs with lo-fi production and restrained keyboards, supported by a contralto voice that underscores melancholy without heavy-handedness. From her early home-recorded albums — Party Girl (2007), Show Me the Face (2010) — to Let’s Part in Style (2014) and New Decadence (2016), her minimalist songwriting gradually opened up to echoes of orchestral chanson and to a shadowy romanticism. On her more recent records, Exciting Times (2018), Ecstasy in the Shadow of Ecstasy (2020) and It Was the Moment (2024), she sharpens that blend of sadcore, slowcore and indie pop with a quiet irony and an intimate pulse. Live, her songs breathe calmly: a low-register voice up front, restrained synthesizers and minimal arrangements that leave space for the words and the atmosphere.
