Boy & Bear

On 11 March 2026 Boy & Bear will perform at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht. The Australian five-piece, fronted by singer‑guitarist Dave Hosking, has been developing a sound since 2009 that sits between indie folk, alternative rock and melodic pop. Early releases such as Mexican Mavis and the EP With Emperor Antarctica set the tone, followed by Moonfire (2011) and Harlequin Dream (2013), where tight vocal harmonies, interwoven acoustic and electric guitars and a fluid rhythm section come together, with a nod to ’70s folk and rock. Limit of Love (2015), co‑produced by Ethan Johns, opted for a more direct, live‑oriented approach, while Suck on Light (2019) moved toward greater nuance and introspection. On the self‑titled Boy & Bear (2023), keyboards, guitars and vocals occupy a central place in the arrangements. Live, this translates into a warm mix of close harmonies, pulsing grooves and spaciously arranged songs with room for dynamics. The set draws from their entire catalogue, from early favorites to more recent work.
