Info
The Residents bring their shape-shifting blend of experimental music, art rock and multimedia storytelling. Since the early 1970s, the San Francisco collective has kept its members anonymous behind ever-changing stage identities, building concept-driven works where narration, dry humor and subversion of pop forms set the tone. From their label Ralph Records to early milestones like Meet the Residents and The Third Reich ’n Roll, they forged a language of deformed pop and collage. Eskimo pushed toward atmospheric, quasi-documentary sound worlds; Commercial Album condensed songs into jingle-sized vignettes; later cycles like The Tunes of Two Cities and God in Three Persons broadened their narrative scope, and the 1990s ushered in full multimedia shows with Freak Show alongside long-time ally Snakefinger. On stage, the group fuses elaborate visuals, theatrical personae and studio-born textures reimagined live. The Residents play Danforth Music Hall in Toronto on 25 January 2026.
