Herman van Veen comes to Stadthalle Aurich on 24 September 2027 and brings to the stage exactly that blend for which he has stood since the 1960s: author’s song, chanson and cabaret, together with musical theatre and narrative passages in which the word counts as much as the melody. Trained in violin and singing, he constructs his shows as scenic evenings in which songs, short stories and theatrical moments interlock—sometimes close to folk, sometimes with orchestrated pop colors, always carried by a very distinctive language.
That van Veen works in several languages and opened his repertoire early to German-speaking audiences is especially evident live: the pieces do not feel like translations but as directly narrated moments. Between songs and monologues, an evening emerges that functions less like a traditional concert and more like a flexible storytelling-with-music experience — personal, precise and without grand gestures.
