Info
On December 11, 2026, at Hyde Park Book Club in Leeds, Sam Shackleton brings his acoustic folk set built around voice, story, and transmission. Born in Stirling and shaped by years spent across Scotland, he draws from the oral traditions of the Borders and the Highlands while keeping an ear open to Irish and American threads.
Expect a repertoire where traditional ballads sit next to blues, old-time and country colours, with the spirit of the 1960s folk revival in the background. Shackleton moves between personal writing and the careful reworking of older songs, treating them less like museum pieces and more like living material. Also known as Sorley the Bard, he leans into narrative forms and collective memory, letting place and folklore guide the way the songs unfold in the room.
