Sheherazaad brings her cinematic blend of dystopic folk-noir and experimental pop to Bristol Beacon.
Her poetic music draws on Hindustani, Turkish, Arabic and Carnatic traditions, weaving traditional instruments with atmospheric recordings and intimate vocals.
Following her Qasr EP, Sheherazaad’s debut album Khudgarzi explores the space between duty and autonomy, sacrifice and survival. Sung primarily in Urdu, with passages in English and Tamil, the album draws together more than 30 musicians across Brooklyn, London and India.
A distinctive voice in contemporary music, Sheherazaad’s work spans music, theatre and the written word, creating immersive performances that explore language, belonging and identity.
