Martin Simpson celebrates the release of his new album Some Kind of Jubilee with a live performance at Kings Place on the day of its launch.
One of England’s folk performers, Martin Simpson is widely recognised as an acoustic and slide guitar player. His interpretations of traditional songs are masterclasses in storytelling, delivered with an intensity and emotional depth that have captivated audiences for over five decades.
Released on the day of this performance, Some Kind of Jubilee marks 50 years since Simpson’s first LP and finds him at the height of his powers. Recorded in Yorkshire and Santa Monica, the album brings together new original material, reimagined classics and traditional songs, shaped by a lifetime of musical exploration.
This concert at Kings Place forms part of a wider tour celebrating the album’s release. Simpson’s live shows are intimate and eclectic.
Arrive early to hear Scottish singer, songwriter and clàrsach player Anna McLuckie live in the foyer from 7:15pm to 7:50pm.
