Johnny Symphonique Tour 2027-2028
'The real Johnny Hallyday is on stage.' Yvan Cassar
This intimate conviction, Yvan Cassar has nurtured over more than 15 years during which he accompanied Johnny as musical director. It constitutes the starting point of a singular project entrusted to him: to restore all the power and emotion of Johnny Hallyday's voice as it resonated in concert, while offering it the sonic setting afforded by studio recordings.
From this ambition were born two albums: in 2019, Johnny, and in 2021 Act II. Both rest on an unprecedented principle: preserving Johnny Hallyday's live vocal takes and magnifying them with new arrangements, sometimes symphonic, sometimes deliberately pared down. A tribute to the artist, with the intensity that only the stage could reveal.
One idea then takes hold: to return these songs to their original place, the stage. In May 2022, Johnny Symphonique took to the road for a first tour of twenty dates. Under the direction of Yvan Cassar, more than one hundred musicians, a choir and a visual production accompany Johnny's voice, delivered on three giant screens. The classics regain their breath: Diego, libre dans sa tête, L'Envie, Allumer le feu, Que je t'aime, but also Marie, Sang pour sang, or Je te promets. A new series of concerts is planned for spring 2024, enriched with new titles including Gabrielle, Noir c’est noir, and the rhythm and blues medley imagined by Johnny in the sixties. The repertoire broadens, the emotion remains intact.
In 2027, as the public prepares to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Johnny Hallyday's passing, Johnny Symphonique opens a new chapter. Beginning November 10, 2027, the show will run for 23 dates across France through March 2028, notably at Rouen's Zénith. Still under Yvan Cassar's direction, it will continue to make this voice heard, carried by the power of a symphonic orchestra and a crafted staging. This new tour will offer new musical tableaux, an expanded repertoire and several guests who will join to share this celebration.
