Jokkoo Collective and Azadi Soundsystem present Scientist at Village Underground Barcelona on 4 July 2026 at 20h00.

Stepping out of King Tubby's studio in the late 70s, Hopeton Brown (aka Scientist) reworked the way we hear bass music. He turned the mixing desk into a lead instrument, stripping tracks down to their raw, echoing core and laying the groundwork for decades of electronic music to follow.

Expect low-end weight, dub selections, and live mixing from an influential figure of the genre.

Jokkoo is a Barcelona-based artistic and musical collective working to research and disseminate contemporary creations from the experimental and alternative scenes of the African continent, its diaspora, and allied communities worldwide. They create connections and spaces to provide a platform for dissident aesthetics and narratives. The collective comprises six distinct personalities with common goals: Baba Sy, Maguette Dieng (Mbodj), Oscar Taylor (Opoku), Nicolas Beliot (Mooki6), Ismäel N'diaye (B4mba), and Miriam Camara (TNTC).
