King Kurt play Bootleg Social on 8 August 2026 at 6:00 pm. Although psychobilly pranksters King Kurt are remembered for "Destination Zululand," the 1984 UK chart hit, to recall them purely as one-hit wonders is to overlook another four years, with four further singles and two albums entering the charts before the group faded away in 1987. But even that only begins to tell the band's story, for it wasn't on record that King Kurt stood out. It was in concert, where gigs became gatherings, songs became rockabilly psycho chants, and haircuts were peculiar.
