Info

Alison Moyet plays Aberdeen on 31 October 2026 at Music Hall, Union Street. Raised in Basildon and first active on the local punk and rhythm and blues circuits, she broke through in the early 80s with Vince Clarke as Yazoo, releasing Upstairs at Eric’s and You and Me Both. Her solo path has since blended pop, soul and blues with both electronic textures and more classic instrumentation: Alf and Raindancing set the tone, Hoodoo and Essex pushed a rawer, song‑driven edge, then came Hometime. She has stepped into orchestral covers on Voice and a more writerly format on The Turn, before reconnecting with a darker, pared‑back electronic pop on The Minutes and Other with producer Guy Sigsworth.

On stage, Moyet carries that contralto grain into arrangements that move between synth‑led tension and warmer, band‑focused dynamics. The Aberdeen date draws on her full catalogue, from Yazoo foundations to later solo chapters, moving from pulse‑driven tracks to close‑up ballads, with the voice at the center. A straightforward, uncluttered live frame that lets the songs breathe at Music Hall in the heart of the city.
