The Stylistics

The Stylistics bring their Philadelphia soul songbook to Venue Cymru, Llandudno, on 5 November 2026. Formed in 1968 from the meeting of two local groups, the band shaped a blend of orchestrated soul, soft R&B and vocal pop that marked the early 70s. Guided by songwriter-producer Thom Bell with lyricist Linda Creed, they forged a recognisable sound around Russell Thompkins Jr.’s falsetto and close group harmonies.

On stage today, founding members Airrion Love and Herb Murrell lead the current line-up with Jason Sharp. The set draws on cornerstone singles like Stop, Look, Listen, You Are Everything, Betcha by Golly, Wow, People Make the World Go Round and You Make Me Feel Brand New, alongside cuts from albums such as The Stylistics, Round 2 and Rockin’ Roll Baby. The show also nods to their later phase with producers Hugo & Luigi and arranger Van McCoy, where the palette shifts toward lighter pop-soul and early disco colours. A catalogue carried by original voices still at the core of the group.
