Imidiwan - Friends of the Desert brings Imarhan to Groningen. On 11 October 2026 at SPOT/De Oosterpoort, the band from Tamanrasset will demonstrate how contemporary tichumaren meets rock, pop and a touch of Saharafunk. Imarhan, rooted in the Tuareg community, sings in Tamasheq and builds songs around electric guitars, choral vocals and smooth basslines, with rhythms that are as indebted to local celebrations as they are to urban grooves. Their debut Imarhan (2016) set the tone; Temet (2018) shifted toward band energy and layered arrangements; Aboogi (2022), recorded in their own studio in Tamanrasset, chose a more acoustic and restrained approach. Live, repetitive guitar motifs and mid-tempo grooves flow into one another, while the lyrics touch on daily life and the changes in the Sahara. Imarhan moves between tradition and a modern, electric sound, linking regional heritage to a current, international scene without abandoning their roots.
