Info

Sun Kil Moon, the long-running project of Mark Kozelek, lands at Lee’s Palace in Toronto on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. Launched in 2002 after Red House Painters, Sun Kil Moon started with slowcore and folk rock foundations—intimate tempos, sparse arrangements, narrative writing. Albums like Ghosts of the Great Highway and the Modest Mouse covers set Tiny Cities set the tone, before a shift toward a more direct, acoustic approach on Admiral Fell Promises and a talk-sung, diaristic style that took root on Among the Leaves and Benji, then stretched further on Universal Themes and Common as Light and Love Are Red Valleys of Blood. Along the way, collaborations, including with Jesu, widened the project’s edges without losing its core focus on everyday detail and memory.

On stage, Kozelek moves between fingerpicked guitar pieces and long-form, spoken-melodic stories, folding small moments into songs that wander and lock in at their own pace. This Toronto date brings material from across the catalogue—early hushed ballads, later freeform narratives, and the in-between—played solo or with accompanying musicians, depending on the tour’s current setup. Special guests join the bill.
