Info
On June 15, 2026, Cass McCombs brings his blend of indie rock, folk and country to Knust, Neuer Kamp 30, 20357 Hamburg. The Californian songwriter has been building a catalogue since the early 2000s that ranges from quiet ballads to moments of electric tension. From the EP Not the Way and the debut A (2003) through PREfection (2005) and Dropping the Writ (2007), he has developed a signature that favors clear melodies and flexible song structures. Live, he traces subtle dynamics, letting calm tip into drive and back again.
With Catacombs (2009), Wit’s End and Humor Risk (both 2011) and Big Wheel and Others (2013), McCombs expanded his sonic palette to include psychedelic hues and echoes of country soul. Mangy Love (2016) continued this trajectory, followed by Tip of the Sphere (2019) and Heartmind (2022) on ANTI-. On stage he revisits these chapters, juxtaposes older pieces with newer ones and varies the arrangements according to the atmosphere. At the core are the songs, the lyrics and a sense of timing that leaves space for turns.
