Info

Romeo & Juliet, the musical by Gérard Presgurvic based on Shakespeare, returns to the stage on April 28, 2028 at the Zénith Nantes Métropole in Saint-Herblain. Carried since 2001 by songs that have become landmarks of French pop — “Les Rois du monde,” “Aimer” — the production has drawn more than 11 million spectators, been translated into 18 languages and performed in 20 countries. A benchmark of musical theatre in France, it launched the duo Damien Sargue and Cécilia Cara, whose chemistry marked the collective imagination and continues to infuse the show’s DNA.

Twenty-five years after its debut, the score and the staging are being reinvented without betraying the essentials: a clear dramaturgy, a large-scale aesthetic and a choral energy that lifts the major numbers. The production moves with its time, incorporates new codes, a renewed cast and a redesigned scenography, while preserving what defines its identity. With more than 9 million records sold, Presgurvic’s universe has established itself in pop culture. In Saint-Herblain, audiences will find that vibrant material again, its timeless themes and the romantic tension that crosses generations.
