Orchestre National de Jazz

The Orchestre National de Jazz presents With Carla, a tribute to Carla Bley, composer, pianist, and arranger with a distinctive repertoire. Under the artistic direction of Sylvaine Hélary, the ONJ revisits her scores and opens them to new interpretations, balancing freedom of play, counterpoint, and orchestral sensibility. Seventeen soloists bring this creation to life in arrangements by Hélary and Rémi Sciuto, with an ensemble blending winds, strings, vibraphone, Hammond organ, and a rhythm section. The lineup includes Sylvaine Hélary (flute), Rémi Sciuto (saxophones, clarinets), Léa Ciechelski, Hugues Mayot, Sylvain Bardiau, Quentin Ghomari, Jessica Simon, Mathilde Fèvre, Fanny Meteier, Anne Le Pape, Elsa Moatti, Guillaume Roy, Juliette Serrad, Antonin Rayon, Illya Amar, Sébastien Boisseau, and Franck Vaillant. Duo Brady brings together two cellists, Michèle Pierre and Paul Colomb. Their improvised dialogue weaves stories in motion, shifting from orchestral textures to pared-down lines, between subtle pulses and melodic echoes. Two cello voices that intersect and answer one another, between composition and spontaneity.
