Gentleman

Gentleman, aka Tilmann Otto from Cologne, is coming to X‑Tra in Zurich on 10 November 2026. Since the late 1990s he has been shaping a reggae that blends roots tradition and dancehall, sung in English and Jamaican Patois. Early stays in Jamaica were formative, already audible on Trodin On and Journey to Jah. With albums such as Confidence, Another Intensity and Diversity he has honed a signature that sits between earthy roots, punchy dancehall riddims and influences from soul and pop‑reggae. In addition to solo work he has released collaborative projects, for example with Richie Stephens and Ky‑Mani Marley.

Live, Gentleman relies on clear melodies, driving grooves and lyrics with conviction. His repertoire ranges from the early classics to more recent releases like New Day Dawn, the acoustic MTV Unplugged, the retrospective The Selection and the German‑language albums Blaue Stunde and Mad World — linguistically broader, yet stylistically even more rooted in reggae. In Zurich, the spirit of his Jamaican formation meets the development of a German reggae artist who confidently moves his material between roots atmosphere and dancehall energy.
