Info
Frente Cumbiero returns to Spain with a stop in Zaragoza: on July 5, 2026, at Sala López. Leading the project is Colombian composer and producer Mario Galeano Toro (Ondatrópica, Los Pirañas), who drives a collective that since the late 2000s has explored cumbia from its coastal roots and reframed it with porro, gaitas and a contemporary outlook where dub, repetitive patterns and a psychedelic sheen coexist seamlessly. Born in Bogotá’s independent scene, the group has built bridges between Latin America and Europe and has released material on several international labels.
In concert, Frente Cumbiero combines deep bass, foreground percussion and horns that carry the melody, with arrangements that engage both the traditional repertoire and studio experimentation. Landmarks such as Frente Cumbiero Meets Mad Professor (2011) and Cera Perdida (2015) illustrate their working method, balancing roots and sonic laboratory. In Zaragoza they will present that intersection of Afro‑Caribbean heritage and contemporary production, leaving room for improvisation and individual readings that refresh cumbia’s danceable pulse.
