Info
Frente Cumbiero returns to Spain for a one-off date: July 8, 2026 at Sala Villanos in Madrid. Led by Colombian composer and producer Mario Galeano Toro (Ondatrópica, Los Pirañas), the project brings to the stage its Bogotá-made cumbia laboratory.
Since the late 2000s, Frente Cumbiero has been exploring Colombian cumbia, porro and gaita repertoire with a contemporary outlook in which dub, repetitive patterns and a psychedelic drift set the pulse. Winds, percussion and bass converse with delay effects and analog textures, balancing written arrangements with space for improvisation.
Milestones in their trajectory include Frente Cumbiero Meets Mad Professor (2011), a meeting of cumbia structures and dub aesthetics, and Cera Perdida (2015), featuring compact compositions and sharp rhythmic cuts. This is coupled with a steady circulation between Latin America and Europe and stops at stages such as Sónar, Womad, Roskilde and Estéreo Picnic.
In Madrid they will present a live show that pushes cumbia into contemporary territories without severing its roots: robust low end, drums up front and a sound that expands in performance.
