Eejungmi is the solo electronic project of Katie Lee that addresses the emotional landscapes surrounding identity. She seeks to answer the questions around what was, what is, and what will be. In advance of her upcoming album 'Water is a Shifting Mirror,' Katie will perform a DJ set at Standard Time.
Egyptrixx is the solo recording project of musician David Psutka. The music is primitive, minimalist—fixated mainly on texture and weight. Smudged facsimiles of club music; crude and abstract grooves. "Jeep music for a Saturn moon." Following last year's release of 'How Tidal' and subsequent reactivation of the project, this will be the first Egyptrixx performance in over 8 years.
Pick a Piper is a Toronto-based live electronic duo consisting of longtime Caribou drummer Brad Weber and Chilean-Canadian vocalist and songwriter Sophia Alexandra. Their music pairs ethereal vocals with warm synths, propulsive percussion, and a distinctive sense of sound design. They will be performing material off their new album 'Dandelion.'
Composer and pianist Kasra Faridi and soprano Shaghayegh Bagheri present his work 'The Fence'—an electroacoustic piece composed and produced with Csound programming that blends intricate electronic textures with Sha’s vocals. Performed in Farsi, 'The Fence' explores the resilience of women in oppressive societies and regimes. This will be the first performance of this work outside of Iran.
As Mas Aya, the experimental composer Brandon Miguel Valdivia performs and improvises on kit percussion and bamboo flutes. His practice exists at the intersection of Indigenous and contemporary musics and celebrates innovation, inclusivity, and cultural dialogue. Valdivia will perform as a trio with longtime collaborators Colin Fisher and Isla Craig.
Following the 2023 release of her album 'Real Life,' Toronto/Belgrade-based musician Kat Duma will present a DJ set of escapist pop, club rattlers, and everything in between. Duma’s artistry often explores feelings of surreality and imagination.
