Info

The Toasters will play at Music Hall Worpswede e.V. in Worpswede on September 19, 2026. Founded in the early 1980s in New York around British singer and guitarist Robert “Bucket” Hingley, the band blends 2 Tone, rock and reggae into a clear, danceable ska. The Toasters have always operated as a flexible collective: a central horn section, offbeat guitars, a rhythm foundation driven by the Jamaican shuffle, and call-and-response vocals define their live sound. From the New York club scene they early on toured North America and Europe and became an established name in the Third Wave ska movement.

Their repertoire spans the debut Skaboom! (1987) through Thrill Me Up (1988), This Gun for Hire (1990), New York Fever (1992) and Dub 56 (1994) to Hard Band for Dead (1996), Enemy of the System (2002) and One More Bullet (2007). The songs alternate between fast tempos and passages close to rocksteady, with soul-tinged hook lines and distinctive horn arrangements. Even with a changing lineup the band’s energy remains constant: in Worpswede The Toasters will bring their New York ska, close to its Jamaican roots and made for the stage.
