Info
On November 8, 2026, Peter Orloff and the Black Sea Cossack Choir will perform at the Martinikirche Buer in Melle. The ensemble represents the Slavic choral tradition and songs from the Cossack heritage: multi-part male choruses, solo passages and distinctive tonal colours alternate. The choir presents a program that swings between contemplative chants and narrative folk melodies, sustained by precise ensemble work and a foundation of deep voices. At the centre are the voices, the texts and the dynamics of the collective.
Peter Orloff, born in 1944 in Lemgo into a family with Russian roots, became known in the 1960s as a popular Schlager singer, notably with Ein Mädchen für immer, Monika and Die Nacht als Christina fortlief. At the same time he established himself as a songwriter and producer, including work for Peter Maffay. Since the 1990s Orloff has guided the artistic direction of the Black Sea Cossack Choir and leads the ensemble through a repertoire that draws on Russian choral traditions and Cossack music. On stage he structures the programme, places accents between deep basses and bright tenors, and maintains the unifying thread between tradition and contemporary concert form.
