Info
Old Man Gloom is a US collective born at the end of the 1990s, shaped by musicians moving between Santa Fe and the Boston heavy scene. Around Aaron Turner (Isis), Nate Newton (Converge), Santos Montano and, for years, Caleb Scofield (Cave In, Zozobra), the group writes slow, massive pieces at the edges of sludge, post‑metal, hardcore and noise. Long tracks fold abrasive textures into ambient layers, tape collages and experimental interludes. The path runs from Meditations in B and the Seminar cycle through Christmas, NO and the twin volumes The Ape of God, then to the 2020 pair Seminar VIII: Light of Meaning and Seminar IX: Darkness of Being, released after Scofield’s death.
On Friday, April 24, 2026, Old Man Gloom plays The Pearl in Vancouver, BC, bringing a set built on contrasts: repetition and weight, sudden space, and a sound that moves from impact to drift.
Erosion and Trigger Object complete the lineup, opening the night and setting the frame for Old Man Gloom’s layered approach.
