Dany Boon, the French comedian, returns to the stage with Clown Is Not a Profession. After seven years away from the stage, he picks up the thread of his childhood dream: to make people laugh, as close to the audience as possible. This new one-man show marks a return to the basics of solo performance, blending memories, small observations and confidences with a direct, simple voice. The title, a nod to that curious profession, expresses his desire to practice it without affectation, for the pleasure of the shared moment. Here there are no frills: a microphone, a stage, new stories and the determination to reconnect with the energy that first drove him to start. Dany Boon thus rediscovers the direct contact that is the essence of stand-up and restores the relationship with the audience to the center of the act.
