A comedian who first gained attention with his debut show, Thomas Marty reveals the behind-the-scenes of adult life, of couplehood and friendships—between situations that go off the rails and thoughts spoken aloud. His writing draws on real life: the little failures, the habits that stick to us, and those moments when you realize you may have grown up too fast. He strings together stories that feel lived-in, sketches modern foibles, and strikes a blend of willful bad faith and quiet lucidity that sets the tone of his stand-up. After the success of his early work, he returns to the stage with a new, more direct and intimate show in which he examines his contradictions—the urge to do too much and the urge to slow down, family that gets involved, and friends who don’t always help.
