Info
On November 4, 2026, Sampa The Great lands at Blue Note London with a live set that sits right at the crossroads of rap, spoken word and song. Born in Ndola and raised between Zambia and Botswana before building part of her career in Australia, she brings that back-and-forth into every track: sharp storytelling, political edge, and a constant pull between introspection and collective energy.
On stage, her flow is all about diction and dynamics, switching from dense rhythmic runs to sung hooks and near-choral moments that nod to soul, jazz, gospel and neo-soul, while leaving plenty of space for African influences to come through. Expect material shaped by The Return and As Above, So Below, where her writing leans into questions of identity, transmission and movement, with grooves that can drift from melodic rap to flashes of zamrock spirit.
