Info
On October 17, 2026, Mercury Rev land at Hackney Church in London for a night built around their wide-angle, ever-shifting take on psychedelic pop. Born out of late-’80s Buffalo experimentation, the band have always moved between noise-rock edges and carefully arranged, film-like atmospheres. With Jonathan Donahue’s unmistakable high-register vocals and Grasshopper’s guitar at the core, their songs lean on strings, brass and hazy textures, switching easily from dissonant bursts to slow, orchestrated ballads.
Expect a set that can travel across eras: the rawer, abrasive spirit of their early records, the turn toward melody in the mid-’90s, and the lush, pastoral sweep that made their late-’90s and early-2000s work feel like dream-pop scored for a cinema screen. A Mercury Rev show is also about rearranging the familiar, letting moods stretch out, then snapping back into song.
Mick Harvey and Amanda Acevedo open the bill.
