On March 10, 2027, Orchestra Baobab returns to Paris, performing at the Casino de Paris, with a sound born in Dakar’s nights in the early 1970s. Formed as the resident orchestra of the legendary Club Baobab, the collective has forged an elegant dance music, at the crossroads of Afro-Cuban rhythms, Wolof traditions, mbalax, Congolese rumba and touches of jazz, carried by guitars that answer one another, supple brass, and voices that move from one language to another.
Always in motion, the group opens a new chapter centered on Made In Senegal, its latest studio album, the first since Tribute to Ndiouga Dieng (2017). On stage, these new pieces naturally dialogue with a repertoire built over several decades, balancing the energy of a big band with the finesse of the arrangements, with this unique way of letting influences circulate without smoothing them out. A date to see one of the great orchestras of Senegalese music, faithful to its roots and open to the world.
