Alison Moyet

Alison Moyet returns to the stage at Portsmouth Guildhall, Portsmouth, on 13 October 2026. First heard in the early 80s with Vince Clarke in Yazoo (Upstairs at Eric’s, You and Me Both), she has since built a solo catalogue where pop, soul and blues meet both electronic textures and more classic instrumentation. Alf and Raindancing set the foundations; Hoodoo and Essex pushed toward a tougher songwriting core; Hometime marked a quieter comeback. She then revisited standards with orchestral colours on Voice and leaned into songwriter contours on The Turn. With The Minutes and Other, produced with Guy Sigsworth, she steered back to a stripped, shadow‑toned electronic pop.

On stage, Moyet moves between punchy synth lines, steady mid‑tempo pop and slower, blues‑tinted pieces, letting the depth of her contralto carry the songs. Her sets often thread Yazoo milestones with solo cuts, updated without excess gloss and attentive to space and dynamics. A clear, unfussy way to hear how these tracks breathe today, in a performance that balances long‑time favourites with her more recent work.
