Between atoms and particles, Laure Prouvost leads you on a sensory escape. The artist presents, beneath the Grand Palais glass roof, on 10 June 2026, a monumental work blending video, sculpture, sound, scent and light, the result of two years of research into quantum physics. Laure Prouvost invites you to see the world differently. It all begins with a question: “What might it feel like to perceive reality from a quantum point of view?”

Formulated a century ago, quantum physics describes the behavior of matter and energy at the scale of atoms and particles. It is based on probabilities rather than certainties and disrupts our usual way of understanding the world. To realize this project, the artist carried out two years of research with the philosopher Tobias Rees and the scientist Hartmut Neven. Having had access to a quantum computer, she created images and sounds that reflect the sensitive and unpredictable nature of these systems.

At the entrance to the exhibition, a tunnel leads you into an environment inhabited by The Beginning, a monumental kinetic sculpture. Driven by sound and light and equipped with six limbs, it is at once omnipresent and evanescent, imposing and fragile, cosmic and terrestrial. At its center, a video entitled We Felt a Star Dying connects you to matter in all its forms: living and nonliving, natural and mechanical, from the infinitely small to the infinitely large.

Around it, elements that resemble meteorites—the Cute Bits (a nod to qubits, the units of quantum computing)—are suspended from the glass roof and evoke the quantum phenomenon of entanglement, which links two particles instantaneously regardless of the distance between them. Some take the form of helmets in which you can hear their voices and smell their metallic, mineral scent.

Spatialized sound, filaments that brush past the body, projectors, a cushion to lie on while you watch the video, platforms and sand benches are among the sensory stimuli that immerse you in this environment. Laure Prouvost evokes an interconnected world where “we are one,” where “we are we.”
