Donny Benét

Following the instrumental EP Le Piano (2022), Donny Benét returns: with Il Basso the Australian bassist and songwriter dedicates himself to his constant companion — the bass as foundation, glue and occasionally the boss of the arrangement. On 21 September 2026 Benét brings Il Basso to Gretchen in Berlin and will present the new pieces live with a band, flanked by fan favorites from recent years.

Benét comes from a pop school with disco, funk and Italo-disco leanings and a clear affinity for the timbres of the 1980s. On stage he pushes the bass forward: sleek lines, dry grooves, warm synths and hooks that stick immediately. Il Basso presents him as an arranger who combines depth and melody — sometimes driving, sometimes floating — while the band supports it all with tight, precise playing. The set bridges new instrumentals and the classics that have shaped his repertoire, painting a focused live portrait of an artist who draws the pulse of his music from the depths.
