Info
On 6 March 2026 Robert Finley will perform at Metropool in Almelo. The singer and guitarist from Bernice, Louisiana, carved out his own path after years on the streets and in churches, and only released his debut record later in life: Age Don’t Mean a Thing (2016). That album led to a collaboration with Dan Auerbach, yielding Goin’ Platinum (2017) and the personally charged Sharecropper’s Son (2021). With Black Bayou (2023) Finley returned to the bayou of his youth: songs redolent of hot asphalt roads, night porches and slow-moving water.
Live, it’s all about his voice and timing: gritty yet clear, with phrasing that lets the groove breathe. His set shifts effortlessly between blues and southern soul, carrying rock’n’roll tension and subtle nods to gospel, jazz and folk. The band keeps it tight and supportive so the stories remain front and center: work, family, faith, desire and the rhythms of everyday life. No frills—just songs that grow with each verse and a frontman who comes close without fuss. An evening to hear the blues as they are lived, here and now.
