Foy Vance

Foy Vance brings his raw, distinctive voice and direct guitar playing to Zurich: on 3 September 2026 at the Theater Spirgarten the Northern Irish songwriter blends British folk tradition with influences from US soul and gospel. Raised between Bangor in Northern Ireland and the American South, he writes songs that swing between intimate ballads, rootsy colours and catchy melodies without losing the core of storytelling and groove.

Since his debut Hope (2007), Vance has steadily honed his sound: Joy of Nothing (2013) opened the arrangements, The Wild Swan (2016) on Ed Sheeran's label expanded the spectrum. In 2019 he released From Muscle Shoals and To Memphis, a nod to Americana and Southern Soul, before Signs of Life (2021) brought him back to a clear mix of introspective moments and pop‑leaning hooks. In addition to his solo work he writes for other artists and has often toured as a support act — experience you can hear in his stage presence.

Live he relies on dynamic shifts, choral touches and that voice that carries stories. Expect a setlist that links older pieces with newer songs and retraces the red thread of his songwriting — approachable, without pathos, focused on melody and lyrics.
