Dany Boon returns to the stage with Being a Clown Is Not a Profession, a one-man show in which the French comedian reconnects with the thread of his first love: making people laugh. After seven years away from the stage, he rediscovers the energy of stand-up, combining intimate confidences, a keen sense of observation and a love of playing. Without props or effects, he allows himself a sidestep, exploring the figure of the clown and what it reveals about childhood, the craft of being a comedian and everyday life. He retains his way of sketching the quirks of reality, of seizing a detail and turning it into a story, with that blend of reticence and whimsy that has become his signature.

Supported by new material, Boon revisits his favourite themes — accents, family, the small comedies of daily life — making them sound different: more direct, more forthright.
