Info
Herman Dune, the project led by Franco-Swede David Ivar, returns solo to Paris to carry forward the trajectory of Odysseús, his album released on June 13 on Santa Cruz Records. On 13 March 2026 at the Cabaret Sauvage in Paris, he will present songs written like travel journals, between stripped-down ballads and indie-tinged folk, with that clear voice and a guitar playing that goes straight to the motif.
Born and raised in Paris, Ivar carved out a singular place for himself in the late 1990s, singing in English on an acoustic when the local scene was looking elsewhere. His declared lineages are audible, from Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen to Townes Van Zandt and John Prine, not to mention Elliott Smith, Lucinda Williams or the Silver Jews. After two dates at the Café de la Danse in November 2025, he is back on the road with a set refocused on writing and storytelling.
Settled since 2015 in San Pedro, a working-class port neighborhood of Los Angeles, he runs his label Santa Cruz Records from a bungalow he shares with his collaborator Mayon. He has released six recent albums there among fifteen in total, including Sweet Thursday, Santa Cruz Gold, Notes From Vinegar Hill and the trilogy The Portable Herman Dune Vol. 1–3, as well as film scores such as Mariage à Mendoza and Pétaouchnock by Édouard Deluc.
