Info
The Flaming Lips bring their “The Teardrop Throbs” show to London on April 2, 2027, taking over O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire for a night that sits right at the crossroads of psych rock, melodic pop and left-field experiment. Since forming in Oklahoma City in the early 80s, Wayne Coyne and the band have built a world where big choruses can rub shoulders with sound collages, electronic textures and oddball songwriting that never settles into one formula.
Live, that mix tends to stretch out and mutate: you can hear echoes of their early noise-pop edge, the more orchestral sweep of The Soft Bulletin era, and the sci-fi glow of Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, all filtered through a band that’s always treated the stage as a playground for new ideas. Expect a set designed to move between hooks and surprise turns, with the kind of immersive energy that’s become a Flaming Lips signature.
